Royal Jelly

Rich, velvety, milky white and opalescent liquid with a pungent odour and a characteristic sour flavour  that we know as royal jelly bees produce for a single reason to extend the life of queen bee, has been revered for centuries for its invigorating and rejuvenating   properties. The life span of worker bee equalling to a few weeks compares unfavourably to the life span of a queen bee (a few years) and not to mention its reproductive capability.
Extensive research has shown that the only difference between workers bees and the queen is in their respective diets. Isn’t it definitively conclusive that what we eat defines how well we live?

The main constituents are carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. Royal jelly proteins are rich in natural hormones, almost all amino acids including essential amino acids, B  group vitamins, and vitamin A, C. D and E.A number of enzymes are also present.
Let us mention some of the research describing its recommended uses:
  • Nutritional deficiencies  of various origin (Malossi&Grandi, 1956)
  • improvements with elderly people, depression and anorexia (Destrem, 1956);
  • improvements of asthenia, emotional problems, nervous breakdown (Telatin, 1956); stimulating metabolism (Marinetti and Caracristi, 1956); wound healing ( Gimbel et al, 1962)
  • wound healing ( Gimbel et al, 1962)
In vitro studies have shown that royal jelly has antibiotic properties and experiments with animals showed that it helps sexual maturity, fertility, weight increase, lower mortality and higher resistance to infection. Royal jelly is also included in many cosmetic preparations for its rejuvenation properties
